We’ve talked a lot lately about the way that artificial intelligence is transforming the practice of law, as if AI itself is calling the shots. Make no mistake: The legal AI revolution is being powered by people, forward thinkers who see the technology’s potential and are willing to embrace the new paradigm it presents for their profession. There’s nothing artificial about the legal industry’s belief in AI’s upside.

But even the most adaptable legal pros may struggle to adjust to this new normal, and that’s OK. Change always comes with a learning curve, if not a professional identity crisis. What really counts is at the end of that trajectory: the radical advancements AI tools offer. There’s no denying the challenge at hand—but the opportunities are equally immense.

This is, in essence, what ABA Techshow is all about. The American Bar Association’s legal tech conference marks its 40th anniversary in Chicago on April 2nd through the 5th. For four decades, the event has brought legal practitioners and tech experts together, surveying the latest industry innovations with a focus on hands-on implementation.

Between Techshow in early April and late March’s Legalweek, it’s a busy couple of weeks for the industry—and for Rev. Our team will be at Techshow, showcasing Rev’s legal product suite, soaking up insights, and sharing our own. But first, we present this guide to making the most of the event, from can’t-miss sessions and topical throughlines to the Rev of it all. Your Techshow 2025 experience starts right here.

The Sessions We’re Most Excited About

Although Techshow spans four days, most of the schedule’s 70-plus sessions are on days two and three. Day two begins with AI and Access to Justice: Paradigm Shift or Shiny Object?, which holds AI’s promise up to the light for a critical examination. But if you want actionable info, your time may be better spent at Workflow Automation for Lawyers: It’s a Whole New World, a workflow mapping and management walkthrough.

In the afternoon, Waking Up to a New Era: Preparing for the Legal Landscape of Tomorrow takes a high-concept approach to projecting legal tech’s near future: “What if the legal profession took a Rip Van Winkle-style nap and woke up in 2034?” Later, there’s no wrong answer in the choice between Use Legal Tech to Boost Efficiency and Client Service and Examples, not Hype! Practical Uses of Generative AI: How LLMs are Reshaping Legal Services for (1) Law Firms and (2) Their Clients.

Day three starts strong with the back-to-back of 60 Generative AI Use Cases in 60 Minutes and Revolutionizing Legal Practice: Leveraging LLMs for High-Volume Document Review, Due Diligence, and Drafting, both about the practical applications of generative AI in legal practice. Later on are the overlapping Transforming Your Firm for the Future and Law Firm Automation Meets AI: A Match Made in Heaven?, about embracing adaptation and the complexities of AI implementation, respectively.

Techshow 2025 concludes with a pair of sprawling, general-interest sessions. But first, don’t miss Digital Justice: Two Generations of Judges Explore AI’s Impact on the Legal System, billed as “an illuminating discussion on [AI]’s growing role in the legal system, featuring judicial perspectives that span generations and jurisdictions.”

Key Topics To Explore Further

The sessions that stand out to us have a handful of vital ideas in common—three, to be exact. Two are entwined with the identity of Techshow itself, while one is of particular interest to Team Rev. We’ll start there, with efficiency

There are multiple sessions that highlight the operational streamlining that AI automation offers, and this is ultimately the most direct path to understanding the value of AI tools like Rev. Never mind the sizzle, because empowering legal pros to be at their most productive is the steak.

Also key is Techshow’s focus on the sheer utility of legal AI tools. Clear as day in that day three double whammy of 60 Generative AI Use Cases in 60 Minutes and Revolutionizing Legal Practice: Leveraging LLMs… is the stance that this is no pie in the sky—it’s a practical set of solutions to problems that have plagued legal practitioners for generations. And in classic Techshow fashion, their programming is concentrated on concrete ways to put those applications into practice.

Finally, by opening with the aforementioned AI and Access to Justice: Paradigm Shift or Shiny Object?, Techshow sets a no-nonsense tone that is sure to resonate with legal pros, as it does with us. This is an essential effort to separate hype from reality, cutting through the noise to gauge what AI tools are really all about. The best legal tech service providers don’t shy away from that sort of scrutiny, they welcome it.

The Expertise and Value Rev Brings

Rev’s alignment with these ideas only matches our excitement to see them writ large at Techshow 2025. Our belief in the power of human interaction to drive progress and innovation informs everything we do, especially our AI-powered voice-to-text solutions. Rev is all about setting legal pros up for success.

Our team’s expertise ranges across industries, legal services included. I myself hold a law degree, passed the New York State Bar in 2014, and worked as an intellectual property attorney at O'Melveny & Myers LLP before later becoming Rev’s Vice President of Sales. We understand the legal landscape and have designed our voice-to-text solutions with legal practitioners in mind, emphasizing security, accuracy, and efficiency.

Where Rev Fits

Techshow is an invaluable chance to bounce off the brightest minds in legal tech, and to convert AI tools from a buzzy abstraction into a thrilling reality. We wouldn’t miss it.

Our team will be onsite to give attendees a closer look at the trusted voice-to-text tools that’re pushing speech tech forward, not to mention saving law firms time and money.

See You At ABA Techshow!

Rev is showcasing its legal offerings at Booth 1058 in the Hyatt Regency McCormick Place’s Lakeside Center. Stop by and say hi—we love to talk legal tech.
