Speaker 1 (00:34):
All right, George, you're good? Do you need me to move anybody down here?
George (00:38):
No, no.
Speaker 1 (00:45):
Okay. [inaudible 00:00:45]. Right next to Javier. That's where Carlos needs to go.
Speaker 7 (00:59):
The curtain call was just outrageous. It never ended for so long, and the whole time I was like, is it over? I don't know what's happening. But at one point the music got everybody clapping in unison and I just like... I felt so weirdly uneasy because I don't know how long this is going to last. I don't know what's going on. [inaudible 00:01:25]. So I can't imagine how [inaudible 00:01:31] comedy show without [inaudible 00:01:34] situation.
Speaker 8 (01:13):
They would do it in the soccer games too. [inaudible 00:01:42].
Speaker 7 (01:13):
The rowing thing?
Speaker 8 (01:13):
It was before the rowing.
Speaker 7 (02:21):
[inaudible 00:02:12] doing the UK and stuff like that. I guess they probably that in America there's probably enough things in the culture that everybody knows that you could do that, but there's some things where I'm like, how does everybody know this song? And then the change [inaudible 00:02:28], too? It's a lot.
Speaker 8 (02:29):
I mean I guess [inaudible 00:02:35].
Speaker 7 (02:37):
Yeah, that's the thing. I was like, there's some that I'm like, I feel like this is the first time you guys are doing it, but only after two rounds of it you guys are all caught up, which was like... Also I'm like, you guys can work in community so therefore you all should be doing more stuff at home.
Speaker 8 (02:55):
[inaudible 00:03:01].
Speaker 7 (03:23):
It took me a long time [inaudible 00:03:27].
Speaker 8 (03:27):
Yeah, I hear that. Me too.
Speaker 7 (03:27):
Like, what's the point? [inaudible 00:03:32].
Speaker 8 (03:27):
It is.
Speaker 7 (03:27):
But it was, [inaudible 00:03:42].
Speaker 8 (03:48):
And it's so interesting too because I didn't do [inaudible 00:03:49]. Didn't do sports, didn't do a dance, but I didn't really do team sports, but [inaudible 00:03:54], but it wasn't like a team.
Speaker 7 (03:56):
Oh, really?
Speaker 8 (03:57):
Yeah.
Speaker 7 (03:57):
In the same way?
Speaker 8 (03:59):
Yes.
Speaker 7 (03:59):
[inaudible 00:04:03].
Speaker 8 (04:12):
Yeah. Yes. And it's not like who gets the most baskets type of thing. And so there's just like things where the whole coach dynamic, sometimes I don't understand that. [inaudible 00:04:26] it was all negative, and I was like, "You got to stop." I was like, "This is not going to work for me. I need you to support me." And I can't ... because I'm immediately just like, [inaudible 00:04:56] time I got up. Who do you think you are? I'm like [inaudible 00:05:07]. I'll do anything.
Speaker 7 (04:46):
Absolutely. [inaudible 00:05:44].
Speaker 1 (04:46):
One minute.
Speaker 9 (04:46):
50 seconds.
Cris Abrego (04:46):
Good morning everyone.
Crowd (04:46):
Good morning. [inaudible 00:07:02].
Cris Abrego (07:02):
Morgan said you guys could laugh, right? Not that any of my stuff is funny, but [inaudible 00:07:09]. It's a rehearsal, right?
Speaker 1 (07:30):
Eight seconds to video. Five to video.
Speaker 5 (07:51):
Please welcome Television Academy Chair Cris Abrego.
Cris Abrego (07:56):
Thank you. Thank you. Good morning everyone and thank you for joining us for the 78th Emmy Awards nominations announcement. Today we kick off the celebration of the extraordinary achievements from the past year, a journey that culminates on television's biggest night, the 78th Emmy Awards airing live Monday, September 14th on NBC and streaming on Peacock. This year has been defined by bold storytelling, creative ambition, and unforgettable performances that have connected with audiences here at home and around the world. Today's nominations honor the artists and the craftspeople whose work rose to the top this year. Their creativity and talent remind us why television remains one of our most powerful art forms. And while these nominations recognize individual achievement, they also celebrate the collaborative spirit that defines our industry. Every nomination today is a result of countless people coming together to create work that moves us, entertains us, and above all inspires us.
(09:03)
So let's get to it. It is my pleasure to introduce two actors whose singular talent and brilliant performances have earned the admiration of audiences and their peers alike and especially mine. Her portrayal of Tina Marrero on The Bear earned her an Emmy for outstanding supporting actress in a comedy series, and last year he won the Emmy for outstanding supporting actor in a comedy series for Somebody Somewhere. Please welcome Liza Colón-Zayas and Jeff Hiller. Thank you both so much. Good luck. Good luck. Good luck. Have fun. Have fun.
Liza Colón-Zayas (09:45):
All right. Here we are, we are live bright and early in Los Angeles. Jeff and I are thrilled to be here this morning to announce this year's incredible Emmy nominees.
Jeff Hiller (09:55):
Liza, I'm kind of nervous. We're live. There are no take twos. There's all of these important people watching us right now. What if we trip? What if we fall? What if I have a wardrobe malfunction? Not today, Hollywood. I have practically stapled this shirt to my body.
Liza Colón-Zayas (10:11):
Okay, breathe. Jeff, breathe. No need for nerves, baby, because this moment is not about us. It's about the phenomenal year we had in television.
Jeff Hiller (10:21):
That's right.
Liza Colón-Zayas (10:22):
Right, think about it. There are people out there just like you last year who are going about their morning completely unaware that their lives could change forever.
Jeff Hiller (10:33):
You really think there's another basically unknown middle-aged actor out there about to be launched into the kind of semi-fame where people on the red carpet keep asking you things like, "How did this happen?"
Liza Colón-Zayas (10:46):
Okay. Something like that. I remember exactly where I was when I got the news when I was nominated. And honestly, it's still taking a while for it to sink in. Even now, it still feels unreal. How about you?
Jeff Hiller (11:03):
Yes, chef. Really wanted to say that and it felt like the right time.
Liza Colón-Zayas (11:09):
Okay. Yes, Jeff. I get that a lot.
Jeff Hiller (11:12):
Oh, really?
Liza Colón-Zayas (11:13):
Yeah. The point is so many talented people spend years honing their craft and pouring everything they have into this business.
Jeff Hiller (11:21):
And for everybody hearing their name or their show this morning, we can't wait to celebrate you.
Liza Colón-Zayas (11:27):
Yeah, because today's nominees represent the incredible breadth of talent across television.
Jeff Hiller (11:33):
And we're standing here as proof that in Hollywood, talent comes in every height.
Liza Colón-Zayas (11:40):
You couldn't have worn flats?
Jeff Hiller (11:42):
I'm actually kneeling right now.
Liza Colón-Zayas (11:45):
